Day 18 & 19. Leon

Even after a rest day in Sahagun, I needed more time to rest, so we modified our plans and traveled to Leon. This time we went by train. Trains are great in Spain and we were in Leon in 30 minutes. Rain didn't put a damper on the excitement of being in a city. Since we had two days in Leon I could explore the city and still rest my leg.  The rain in Leon didn't dampen our excitement.

The first thing you notice in Leon are the  beautiful, historical buildings. The cathedral is a highlight but there are so many  incredible buildings. There are parks and plazas around the buildings so it's enjoyable to walk around. Lots of activity goes on in the plaza in front of the cathedral and you sometimes see unusual ways people get around. I really liked these "bubble bikes" which took people around the city. I thought I should use one - because I have a bum leg.

Of course the food is a highlight and sweets were everywhere.  As we were looking in the windows of the sweet shops we saw our friend Perry who had a great idea -  Stopping for hot chocolate and churros.  You dip the churro in this very thick, dark hot chocolate.  Am I making you hungry? Later there was a trip to a chocolate shop and chocolate dessert for dinner. Yes it was a CHOCOLATE day!!
